Overview

Rishihood University is an Indian private university located in Sonipat, Haryana. It was established in 2020 by the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2020 of the Haryana Legislative Assembly. It is founded as a collective philanthropy by entrepreneurs, academics, and social leaders including Motilal Oswal, S K Arya, Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Gauranga Das ,Vivek Sharma and others. Suresh Prabhu is the Chancellor and S. P. Kothari chairs the Board of Advisors of the university. == Schools == The university consists of five schools: School of Creativity School of and Psychology Education School of Entrepreneurship Rashtram School of Public Leadership Newton School Of Technology == Academics == The University offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in technology, entrepreneurship, design, and psychology. The university has academic and research links with Ural State University, Russia and Kyungdong University, South Korea. == Notable faculty == K Gopinath Sampadananda Mishra == Recognition and approval == Rishihood University is established under The Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2020. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission (India). == Campus == The University campus is spread over 25 acres situated in Sonipat, Haryana. In June 2023, Rishihood University partnered with KPMG in India to launch a Bachelor’s degree program in Business Analytics. As part of this collaboration, KPMG contributes to the design and development of course content and provides technical faculty for offline delivery. Edept supports the program through career mentoring, international immersions, and industry-aligned curriculum management. In the same year, the university collaborated with Newton School, a Bengaluru-based neo-university, to offer India’s first residential Bachelor’s Program in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. The program includes global learning components such as study tours to Silicon Valley, Israel, and Singapore, a six-month mandatory internship with startups and MNCs, and mentorship from faculty and professionals associated with institutions like IIT Delhi, MIT, and companies such as Google and Amazon. In October 2023, the university organized a 100-km walkathon, called The Rishihood Walk, to promote sustainability and holistic development. The two-day event included participation from 33 students and 17 staff members, including the university’s leadership team. The walk covered rural areas such as Murthal, Tajpur, and Malikpur, and was aimed at cultivating environmental awareness and physical resilience among participants. The university has also been active in developing campus infrastructure and engagement spaces. In May 2023, Rishihood University inaugurated the Ashok Goel Library, a facility designed to support academic research and reading. In November 2023, the university hosted Damru 2024, a multi-disciplinary campus event focused on Indian knowledge systems, innovation, and culture. Additionally, in December 2023, the Learners' Arena was launched on campus, inaugurated by Indian footballer and Padma Shri awardee Baichung Bhutia. == Scholarships == In 2024, Rishihood University launched the Bharat100 Scholarship, a merit-based initiative aimed at supporting talented undergraduate students across India. Valued at over ₹7 crore, the scholarship is offered for programs in entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, finance, design, and psychology. The scheme provides up to 100% tuition fee waivers, with five students receiving full scholarships, and additional tiers offering 75%, 50%, and up to 40% tuition waivers for selected candidates. Preference is given to applicants with outstanding curricular or extracurricular achievements, and students from all academic streams are eligible. == References ==
